Next year, we want to create an event to mark the Foundation’s first anniversary.

This will be more than an anniversary, it will be a living celebration. A day to showcase the work of the Foundation so far, share our plans for what comes next, and honour the life and music of the man who inspires it all.

 Imagine with us:

• A photographic exhibition telling Gene’s story through images of his life and music.

• Live multi-media art workshops where you can create, play, and connect.

• A gathering space to meet others who share a passion for Gene, for music, the arts, and community.

• Curated playlists drawn from Gene’s catalogue, themed “The Innovator,” “The Rebel,” “The Romantic.”

• A storytelling archive built from your personal memories of Gene and the impact he had.

• Classic cars, live music, and of course food and plenty of dancing.

Help us bring this vision alive.

How can you be part of it? What would you like to see, feel, hear, taste, and experience at such a celebration?

This creation will be built piece by piece, heart by heart, idea by idea. Let’s get creative. Let’s start now.😉

Gene Vincent Blue Plaque Campaign

The Gene Vincent Foundation is proud to announce the launch of a special interest group dedicated to securing a Blue Plaque in the United Kingdom to honour the life and legacy of the pioneering rockabilly, Gene Vincent.

Blue Plaques celebrate the people and places that have shaped our history. For Gene, who not only left an indelible mark on music but also lived and worked in the UK, a plaque would recognise his deep connection with this country and ensure his story is remembered.

Why This Matters

Gene Vincent inspired generations of musicians and fans. A plaque would:

  • Preserve his legacy for future generations.

  • Celebrate his contribution to music history.

  • Create a place of pride and pilgrimage for the community and fans worldwide.

Possible Locations

We invite the GVF community and wider public to share ideas on the most meaningful location. Suggestions include:

  • Walton Playhouse (Walton Hop), Elmbridge – where Gene performed in 1963.

  • Oakfields, Walton-on-Thames – where he often stayed with his UK road manager.

  • Leigham Court Road, Streatham – the family home where Gene lived with his wife and daughter.

  • Other key venues or residences linked to his UK career.

Get Involved

We are preparing an application to the English Heritage Blue Plaque Scheme, and your input will strengthen the case. Here’s how you can help:

  • Share here your preferred location and reasons why it matters.

  • Contribute stories, memories, or memorabilia connected with Gene’s time in the UK.

  • Register your interest to be part of the campaign working group.

  • Spread the word so others can join this historic initiative.

Together, we can ensure that Gene Vincent’s name and music continue to be celebrated where they truly belong – in the heart of British cultural history.
