Honouring Legacy. Empowering Lives.
Gene Vincent (1935–1971), born Vincent Eugene Craddock in Norfolk, Virginia, was a groundbreaking rockabilly artist whose raw voice and rebellious energy helped shape the sound of 1950s rock and roll.
After surviving a serious motorcycle accident in 1955, Gene was left with a lifelong leg injury. He wore a steel brace and lived with chronic pain, but never stopped performing. His perseverance turned him into a symbol of resilience, inspiring generations of fans, especially those navigating disability or adversity.
His international hit record, “Be-Bop-a-Lula” remains a rock classic, and his influence can be felt in the music of artists from The Beatles; to punk icons of the 1970s; and to present day.
Today, the Gene Vincent Foundation carries forward his legacy, not through music alone, but through creative and inclusive programs that support mental health, empowerment, and community healing.
